The Day You Left

Must read

Pushpa Khanal

The day you left
I felt alone
Since the day
I am still alone !

Come here, my mum!
See my sorrow;
Feel my pain
Once again.

Once you left
I became alone
Since the day
I am alone !

When I felt ill
You were my doctor;
When I failed to walk
You were my conductor;
When I forgot to live
You were my director.

You saved from many a fall,
You paved me away from hell
You were my everything
In my life
You left, why mum
Leaving me alone?

This world is big
But there’s no one living for me;
You were my world
From where I used to see

Where are you lost?
How to find you?
Where did you hide, mum?
Give me some sound.

When you left
I lost my senses
When you left
I lost my brain
When you left
I lost my eye
When you left
I forgot to cry
I forgot to fly
I forgot to go high!

You were my ladder to achieve my goals
You were my dream to meet the soul
You lived single to make me whole

When you left
My day became darker
When you departed
Life turned harder

Where is the lap
I used to lie on?
Where is the warmth of your hand
Where I used to play?

My cheek is colder
My nose is running
My hands are shaking.
Where are you mum
To save me from being older?

Be it a cold night
Or the sun bright
You were the shed
From all sides.

The warmer I felt in your lap
The cooler I felt in your heart
The brightness I felt in your head—
I lost them all.
Could not find you again
Since the day you were gone !

The day you left
I felt alone
Since the day
Still
I am alone !
