Four Poems by Abhay K

Must read

Devi’s Falls

Water goddess falls
into a dark cavern

a thousand tigers
roar

water vapour
dances in the air.

***

Along the Himalayas

Sheep shaped white clouds
grazein thegreen meadows of the sky

snow clad peaks
shine bright as diamonds

while I travel
from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

***

Marpha

It is all white in Marpha
houses, shops, walls
windows, doors

Marpha roars with laughter
with the force of its winds
but it breathes slowly

along with sun-kissed mountains,
sculpted alluvial mounds
and bare rocks inhabited by shrubs

a lady in a red head gear
appears from nowhere and instantly
disappears in its immense white.

***

Mustang

A piece of moon rests on the earth
baked for centuries.
Shadows of Yak herds crawl
like ants on a blinding canvas of snow

seeking ever receding meadows
— the brooks of life.

The last yak herder of Dhe
silently follows them into oblivion.
