Ratna Samsher’s Memoir Coming Soon

Must read

The life of senior lyricist and poet, Late Ratna Samsher Thapa is hitting Nepalese bookstores in the form of a memoir very soon. The memoir of the legendary writer Thapa is ready for launch any time said Pusparaj Poudel, proprietor of Sikha Books that is publishing the work. Edited by Mahesh Karki Kshtiz, the memoir understandably contains writer Thapa’s first-hand recollections of his personal and literary life, followed by a few critical and commemorative writings from some of his contemporaries, close friends, and juniors. Thapa, who passed away recently, is considered one of the pioneers of modern Nepali poetry, and one of the most revered lyricists, who dominated Nepali music with his words for about half a century. The memoir has been titled Ghumtima Naaau Hai, after a line that occurs in one of his most famous songs.
