INS Portugal Committee Formed

International Nepali Society, formed with the objective of organizing the Nepalese living in the country and abroad and working for the benefit and development of Nepal and the Nepalese, has formed a national working committee for Portugal under the leadership of social worker and young entrepreneur Kamal Khadka. Som Anurag Basnet has been nominated as the senior vice-president and Anu Khanal, Prakash Khadka, Kamal GC, Dipesh Rai and Nawaraj Poudel have been nominated as the senior vice-chairmen of the committee. Similarly, Harisharan Pariyar has been selected as the general secretary, Naresh Kathayat as the joint general secretary and Sujit Shrestha and Manisha Ghimire as the secretaries. Kushum Gurung and Gokul Kandel have been nominated as the treasurer and co-treasurer of the committee, while Bhima Rai, Jesica Tamang, Sharmila Rai, Sita Tamang, Savin Tamang and Sandhya Thapa have been selected as the members.

Offering good wishes in the program, Prof. Dr. Shri Ram Prasad Upadhyaya said, “It is very commendable to think, buzz and work for the interest and development of Nepal and the Nepalese on abroad.” He urged the people to continue their patriotism wherever they are. Likewise, Tilak Gaire, Chairman of the National Coordinating Council of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, expressed his best wishes for the cooperation and goodwill of the newly formed society to do much for the benefit of Nepal and the Nepalese. The society’s president Arjun Ghimire, senior vice president Shyam Subedi, vice president Nitu Khatiwada, general secretary Arjun Sree Raut and others expressed their good wishes and stressed on working hand in hand with the Nepalese from all over the world for the benefit of Nepal and the Nepalese. Similarly, General Secretary of the Women’s Committee Subhadra Thapa Bhandari, Treasurer Shubhalakshmi Koirala and other distinguished persons also spoke on the occasion. As the chairman of the newly formed committee, Kamal Khadka articulated his commitment to live together in the happiness and sorrow of the Nepalese living in Portugal in the coming days as Portugal is the country of choice for many Nepalis.
