Poetry and the Eagle

Must read

By Rajendra Bhandari

Drawing a line
an eagle soared across the sky
and vanished.
The line vanished too.

Each time the disgruntled eagle
Flies away from the tree,
it returns to its branches.

‘Oh, this is so scrammed,’ it grumbles
soaring through the expansive skies.
‘Oh, the sky is so dreary,’ it grumbles
And returns to the tree again.

This is the eagle’s fate,
The Algebra of its flight.
There is no magic in the sky
Nor on earth.

The magic is in its feathers.
To fly is to write poetry
with a feather in the sky
to become one with the sky.

The eagle writes poetry too.
