Sani’s Right: Why Denied?

Must read

Arohi Adhikari

No, there’s no goal ahead of her
Neither does one know her dwelling place
She appears moving on roadsides
This way and that
Wrapped in a thin loin
In search of an ounce of good
And a draught of water
In scorching heat and
Heavy downpour.
Why is Sani
Denied her rights as a child?

In want of love, why should her home she recall?
The road is her mattress, the blue sky her cover.
There’s no coin in hand to buy an ounce of food
She ignores all promises about loving Mother at home.

It’s true, hundreds of millionaires
Who tread along the way
Denigrate her
Call her names;
Some label her insane
And others call her reckless.
Leave; why to talk of such people!
For me, she’s a struggling human
Her countenance clearly reflects wisdom

Let Sani get the post I hold
Let her have a feel
Of reaching the top, uphill;
From there, let her show these millionaires
Her true worth and identity
And let her bring
Rights to every street child.
