I have Become a God

Must read

Suresh Rai

No doubt, I have become a God
not only once or twice but on countless occasions
You all have apparently witnessed this phenomenon
You have worshipped me
and have become my die-hard devotees

I’ve been to your temples and shrines
where you have placed me out of utter reverence
and I have stayed there happily
bestowing upon you all My blessings
and My divine assistance when you needed so badly

There has been ‘Samudra Manthan’— the churning of the ocean
and all of you both Suras and Asuras have participated
You couldn’t digest halahal, the poison
You invoked me
and I joyfully drank it while all of you drank the amrita,
the nectar of immortality

I expected nothing from you all
You always revered me
offered me your worships
asked me for my blessings
and your wish was my command

When it rained cats and dogs
I handed you umbrellas and roofs
When you sweated in the scorching sun
I gave you the shades for you to avoid the extreme heat
So no doubt I have become a God

When you were falling off the cliff
I threw myself to hold you
When the Yama’s troops were advancing towards you
I ordered them to go away and leave you safe
So no doubt I have become a God

When you were starving to death and remembered me
I offered you a square meal constantly
When Goddess Laxmi ran away from your wallets
I asked Her to come back to your purses
So no doubt I have become a God

When you were thirsty and racing seeing a mirage
I created a lake for you to drink from
When you were intellectually barren
I created an infinite knowledge for you
So no doubt I have become a God

But fortunately or unfortunately, now the tragedy is happening
Right in front of my eyes
You are forgetting my existence
You are ignoring my image and contribution
You have all been blessed, powerful, and prosperous
So you are all indifferent to my super power

You all humans still pray to me when you are in catch-22
You take a pilgrimage to my shrines when you run out of abundance
I’m not furious with you even though you get out of touch with me
I always bless you all for your abundance with my heart broad
So no doubt I have become a God.
