Manavadhikar tatha Shanti Samaj Nepal, an independent social organization working for human rights and peace, has picked eleven writers, including five women for different awards for the year 2020. According to a press release issued by the Samaj’s General Secretary Sushil Basnet on Thursday, the Samaj has decided to award senior poet and theater activist Ashesh Malla with Krishna Kumari Dahal Peace Honor, while Pabitra Devi Chaulagain Human Right Award will be conferred on Aahuti, senior poet, novelist and social activist. Similarly, novelist Neelam Karki Niharika will be awarded with Radha Devi Dahal Good-will Honor, poet and lyricist Byakul Maila with Chandrakala Khanal Non-Violence Honor, poet and literary historian Pramod Pradhan with Gyan Prasad Khanal Tolerance Honor, and senior poet Govinda Raj Binodi with Maha Prasad Rizal Republic Honor. In the same way, Jogmaya Baral Honor will go to senior ghazal writer Gyanuwalker Poudel, Radha Devi Dahal Literary Honor to ghazal writer Shrestha Priya Patthar, Bhim Prasad Baral Literary Honor to novelist and essayist Basanti Shahi,  Shri Prasad Dahal Literary Honor to Tharu poet and lyricist Balika Chaudhary and Shri Narayan Dahal Literary Honor to Renu Gupta, a folklorist and translator respectively. According to the press release, the award-giving ceremony will take place on the birth anniversary of poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota. The honors carry a cash of twenty thousand rupees each along with a citation. “We have ensured that the recipients of these honors are from all the seven provinces of Nepal,” the press release said.
The Samaj has been conducting literary events for the past ten years as a part of its monthly literary activism. The honors are a part of its literary campaign.
