Three Poems on ‘World Peace and Human Survival’

Must read

By Santosh Kumar Pokharel

1. To the New Afghan Government

You hung Najibullah on the street
Though I didn’t like it no way
See, I nothing did say,
You bombed the huge Buddha statues in Bamiyan
Here, my heart ached.
Your heart is hard as stone or even more
Your deeds everyone’s heart tore.

Speak out! What harm to you had they done?
Among those could have been your ancestor too
You all of us did stun.
Abandon radicalism now on! Implant a culture kind!
Don’t cover Afghan women with burqas, I do remind
This is the twenty-first century!

Let free thoughts bloom,
Dispel the prevailing gloom
This but can be the way
Just because your Ashraf Ghani’s ran away
Winning the battle’s still far
Unless you win Afghan children who are the real star.
Women are not slaves. No dart!
Rather you win too their heart!

If you are serious to run the state now
Save the culture of others. Construe!
And live your culture in true.

You shall change yourself to fit this age’s demand,
To wipe out the terrorist brand
Compromise with your philosophy and religion
And win the hearts of the world.

Destroying settlements is easy
Firing and dropping bombs
Easier to shoot all, kill and send off to the tomb.
That madness is strange to fire and burn
It is very difficult for you to govern.

Let peace prevail and make people their fate
Hope you now understood
No to a terrorist state!
Now get your mindset hurled!
Afghanistan cannot survive alone in the world.

So now choose the path of peace
This is the twenty-first century.
Afghan soil has soaked in human blood
Hindukush here smells no more
People are leaving the country, stop them!
They panic in their heart-core.

Now but you have none but to learn to the peace root!
Don’t shoot the innocent citizens!
And don’t their riches loot!
The state power gained through mass killings
Against human lives, is futile
Humanity is scared with what you did erstwhile
Dear generous Pathans!
Respects this poet’s plea and turn history to the east again
And re-establish the glory of Afghanistan!

2. To Boko Haram on the School Girls

Two hundred girls
The school girls
From school of Nigerian north Abducted and sent forth
To places unknown
You did escort.
Oh and you tell
You put them on sale
To servitude
To the hell!

Terror why do you hold?
With the girls
For what been they abducted?
In hearts our whirls
Why beaten they are
And twitched by hair curls?
The godly girls!

16 to 18 years age
What barbarism with them
What a savage?
Humanity put in the cage
Like beasts
In ravage
Fie! You damn! You Boko Haram.

Share I too their sentiments
Sentiments of the immaculate
Teenage girls
The parents’ pearls,
Emotions of the globe
The mankind whirls
Your abduction to the world
Is utter a slam
And a wretched damn
Pooh you Boko Haram.

Hey why yell you humanity?
Tender its heart
Subtler its sanity.
People though been kind
State still entwined
In this mission
In a rescue mission
In a peaceful submission!

You will be caught
By necks
Will all be counted
By heads
Will be punished too bad
Of you so sad!
So don’t do follies
Don’t go mad!
Be sober and calm
You Boko Haram.

This misfortune!
Ailment to the humanity
Your terror and insanity
How think you get this way
Troubles your do away
With our daughters frailed?
Abducted and blackmailed.

No brother no father henceforth
Shall be hailed
For the act you entailed
Hold on, set them free!
This a human decree.
Don’t remain in sham!
You Boko Haram.

I raise my voice
My poetic voice, my choice
For the school girls
More than 200 innocent girls
The parents’ pearls!
Heritage and mirth
Of this mother earth!

I plea, I earnestly plea
For the peace and glee
Abduction you did I do flay
Dare not you them slay!
I bet you never abate
Surrender never late!

And wait
For the bliss of life
Harmony again to revive
In your nation
Grant them emancipation!
And be hailed warm
You Boko Haram!

3. Killing in Bataclan, Paris

Ten minutes just ten horrific minutes
Ten minutes those terrific minutes
Broke two black wrapped gunmen
Into Bataclan concert hall and then
Shouting allahuakbar they gunned
Audience all out there got stunned.

Lay on the ground and put their hands
Ways no out, was no cry to extend.
All calm and determined they did take
To fire into crowd, that Paris did shake!

And shook in Kathmandu my heart
I shout for all, remain alert!
Let all this killing do disdain,
And curse this terror, inhumane!!!

(Rest all in peace. Those killed were innocent people!!!)
