Two anthologies of poems for children, one each in English and Nepali, were launched virtually on ZOOM on Thursday. Senior writer and critic Prof. Dr. Govinda Raj Bhattarai launched these anthologies edited by Mohan Singh Saud. The anthologies have been published by Sangam Books. The books have been titled Bal Kavita Sangraha and An Anthology of Poetry for Children in Nepali and English respectively.
Launching the pair of anthologies, Chief Guest Govinda Raj Bhattarai lauded the editor for handling such an essential and painstaking task. He appreciated the task of bringing poets of varied ages, backgrounds and craftsmanship together.
Speaking on the anthology, critic Dr. Ambka Aryal mentioned essential expectations of children’s poetry and judged the entries in the collection against those standards. She appreciated the eclecticism of the themes and excellence of the art the poets have exhibited. She suggested better editorial clarity and linguistic refinement for the days to come.
Critic Mahesh Paudyal, speaking on the English collection, lauded the editor for the commendable job. He expressed happiness on the fact that such endeavors shall be significant to enrich our children’s literature. SP Sapkota, Chief of Sangam Books, thanked the editor for the work and promised to carry the good work further in the days to come as well.
A few participating poets including Roop Singh Bhandari, Samjhana Aryal and Heera Bhatta recited their poems.
