Anul Manandhar
The smell of autumn flowers
infused in the playful breeze
softly nudges my senses
as the warm sun rests on my face
Kites and eagles soar lazily
in the clear blue sky
Melodies of the
flute peddler
waft through the
October afternoon
Time is in no rush
as it lingers on
in my mystical Basantapur,
gently bustling with
tourists and vendors
under the gaze of the
tanned temples
Golden is the memory
of my childhood
like the Himalayas
that sat idly by
(Born and grown up round Basantpur Durbar Square, Kathmandu, Mr. Manandhar is now based in Alberta, Canada.)
Rooftop Reminiscence, a perfect fall poem to recapture the memories of a lazy, warm and vibrant time; sharing the music, the joy, the freedom that only a summer day can knead into our bones, our souls, our hearts. May I read this every fall season.
