Rajmitra Memorial Award Trust has decided to honor poet, lyricist and fiction writer Maheshwar Pant with this year’s Rajmitra Memorial Honor. Similarly, murchunga and sarangi player Sushil Gautam will be felicitated in recognition of his contributions. According to a press release issued by the Trust on Wednesday, a meeting of the Trust, chaired by its President Hari Prasad Kafle “Shiva” made this decision. The award, established by writers Sushil Nepal and Ishwari Nepal, is being conferred to Nepali writers living in Massachusetts, USA, and consists of cash and citation. The awards this year will be given away on September 20.
Pant is a member of NRNA’s Language, Literature and Culture Sub-Committee, and author of Furlung, a novel and Nabolneharu and Mundri, story collections.
The award was established five years ago.
