International Literary Missive – Spain

Must read

Santosh Kumar Pokharel

During my decades long poetry writing I have come across some international poets and not all but some remain in memory, particularly those composing long good verses. Poems flow like streams sometimes calm, and sometimes noisy, but in all the cases they flow all laden with the poets’ emotions. This notion I do hail about creating a good poetry. A poet from Spain frequently sends me his poems in Spanish almost alternate days and this makes me sense the poets’ virtue of wishing their poems read by others. I have met poets in numbers who would insist on their poems to be read and listened by others, or what use is making poems?

I read his short poems in Spanish in google translation. My Spanish is zero but I can sense it as I have little knowledge in French. The roman group of languages have similarity in conjugation of verbs and formation of words. Yes, I was talking about a poet and he is Antonio Jose Caralps Sobrea from Spain- a writer novelist and a poet by heart.

I knew about Antonio only then, when he sent me my video recitation with his Spanish radio broadcast link. There are others too in the world of Spanish literature who translated my poems and aired me through their radios. I am thankful to all for their love and honor and of them besides Antonio are Cristian Dias and Eladio Chinchilla. Cristian Romero Diaz aired me through his Mexican radio Bukowski and Chichilla, the Costarican poet, 84 aired about this poet in his voice worldwide. I extend my humbled gratitude to the Spanish word of Literature for promoting my poems for their poets and readers.

I am introducing here Antonio Jose Caralps Sobrea with his two poems in my translation.

SE QUEMARON
(THEY ARE BURNT
)

Dreams were burned
Like a cigarette paper.
Without possessing them
We ended up.

The bonfire of vain
To the sound of the lyre.
Without knowing the truth, how remain?
And turned to pyre.

The game still won’t end
It’s time to the play, attend
And put fuel to the fire to burn
To ashes the thing shall turn.

Leaving your conscience to burn
In the hands of science
To mercy then how return?

On top of thoughts is put
A beacon that flaring stood
And with passage of time
Ashes keep growing it would.

Things are well assumed
And happen as things presumed
Even the ashes are use still,
In grills it’s is well consumed.

Without a mistake today
The fire his part does play.
The fire does favor start
to a part of the people.

LA SOMBRA
(THE SHADOW
)

Never leave me abandoned
always haunts me.
the long shadow
the one that follows me.

But it’s not enough
that’s my punishment.
Well, follow me to the extreme
with the sun as a witness.

How am I going to pay?
already paid.
Or just pay
pay for sin.

Just to be different
and not to fall into error.
And always for my people
I want the best

It will be a utopia
that will be a reality.
but every day
I’m really sorry.

there are always new paths
and highest peaks.
and many destinations
which we jump to.

We own
to get up after a failure.
Well, there are no small steps
but the first step indeed.
