Three Fragments

Must read

Som Nath Ghimire

(A)

In pursuit of thee, my darling
I have been wandering for ages

Through secret stars and clouds
Life seems to be taking turns
With each step but I reach nowhere
Amidst the silent hours of young nights

Amidst the unheard cries of youthful longings
Yet, I can’t find the light
That I envisioned at the start of mine youthful days
But how long, my dear
I wonder
How long youthful insomnia prevails?
You know!
The road caves in in distant horizon
The sky cracks

Before the daybreak
And I’m lost somewhere

My dear, I wonder if you have found thy heart anywhere?

  (B)

The destination was on the distant horizon camouflaged
I cleared the cloud
And hurriedly flapped my wings skywards

I noticed mountains awaiting my footfalls
And landed on them

Alas! I had a painful conscience deep down in my heart

Oh!
I realized
Life has long been left in the lurch
Amidst the foothills of the mountains
The world called me triumphant any way
How ironic a life could be, my dear?

(C)

Counting one, two, and three
Counting days, weeks, months, seasons and years
The leaves grow gray in color
The branches grow gray in color

My dear,

Even the trees along the river

That give shelters to creatures on earth
Dissolve in the wind!!!
