Pen Arrested

Must read

Dadhi Ram Panthi

Writing freely in the city cave,
Surrounded I by the so-called human forces,
Dragged me here and there plundering my dreams,
I was bleeding and vomiting
Not the red blood,
But bleeding the black ink and vomiting the same.

I saw them all in black uniform,
Maybe they were wearing the black blood of me,
Maybe they were smelling the tasty vomit of me,
We were brothers, sisters, wives and relatives,
They took us in the van,
Not knowing where they were heading,
One of them closed the door and locked it with black key,
And asked I , “Brothers, you also love me!- I mean darkness.”
One of them laughed and another made a big sound “Bang” maybe of rifle!

After an hour-
They took us in a prison and again in black room,
Maybe the room understood our feelings,
We slept together peacefully-
The same van was again moving towards other caves of the city,
Searching the black pens-
Because they had to follow the orders of Big Brother!

Now, other pens slept even in the day light,
Maybe they were afraid-
Listening the news broadcast of their brothers’ arrest,
They had fear of being arrested again-
They were silently closing the doors and even windows
Of their caves and sleeping without the real sleep.
One of the officers peeping through the window,
And called the pens to come out-

The Pen asked, “Why to come out?”
The officer replied, “Please come out, we have to arrest you-
Why? Why? Asked I-
“Because it’s our duty.”
“Yes,” another one added, “We wear black uniform to give light to others,
You are also black. You vomit black blood and you write with black ink.”
The third one further added, “We are brothers not your enemies.”
The fourth one with rifle in left hand responded with a smile, “Brother, We are making them fool”
I asked, “How?”
He replied, “They are the Big Brothers but?”
I said, “What but?”
He said- “They have neither pens nor security”

The officers and we brothers together decided,
To abandon the city secretly.
We left the city in the same van and established the tiny city in the village-
The officers maintained peace and ordered-
And we pens started to write again-
The Big brothers ordered to call those lost officers and arrested pens-
They searched and searched and found nowhere-

The Big Brothers were not secured and they suffered from hunger-
They all changed into “Hairy apes just like in The Wretched Stone
They were all illiterate–
All empty minded–
The city of the caves became a mere desert now,
The rulers and protesters both changed into hairy apes,
They cried and cried and prayed to the God to forgive them,

One day the hairy apes made a tour of wonderland-
It was the tour of the tiny city-
They saw the same police officers living peacefully in the city-
The arrested pens were busy in writing piles of books-
They were enjoying the peace–
The officers were embracing the pens and the pens were kissing the officers.

The hairy apes were jealous to them–
They wanted to break their harmony–
The apes were there with political banners and they were pleading the officers and pens-
To help them give security in the coming election,
And to chant about their political slogans,
But they looked indifferent–
Later it was heard the hairy apes all died in the shipwreck while returning home.
