Ashoka-Subhadra Poetry Award for the year 2077 BS has been conferred on renowned poet Momila. Dang Writers’ Association honored poet Momila with the award in recognition and critical appreciation of her three decades of continuous practice in poetry, essays and critical literature. The award was handed over to poet Momila by veteran writer Kosh Raj Neupane.
Speaking at a program organized at Ghorahi, Dang, Mr. Neupane said, “Momila has made exemplary contributions to Nepali literature both creatively and organizationally. A good talent has received the ‘Asu Kavya Award’.”
Speaking on the occasion, Khagraj Neupane, president of the association, said, “It is an opportunity for the organization to reward Momila for her significant contribution for the literary creation.”
Talking about the personality and work of the award-winning author Momila, Dr. Krishna Raj DC said, “Momila’s contribution to Nepali literature is incomparable. Momila has brought Nepali literature to limelight across the country via Nepali Kalasahitya Dot Com Foundation.”
After receiving the award, poet Momila said, “This award given by the Writers’ Association, Dang has given me a sense of responsibility. Born in Dhankuta and living in Kathmandu, Dang reminds me that I am doing the right thing.” Poet Thakur Belbase recited some poems of Momila on the occasion.
The Ashok-Subhadra Poetry Award has been established by social worker Ashok Kumar Lamichhane.
