Premko Mahasagar, a novel by Canada-based Nepali writer Ranjana Karki was launched amidst a lively literary event organized in Kathmandu by Sahayatri Darpan Nepal on Saturday. Chaired by Darpan’s Managing Director, poet and novelist Govinda Kadel Aansu, the event had renowned poet and journalist Dr. Nabaraj Lamsal as the Chief Guest, and poet and former INLS President Radheshyam Lekali as special invitee.  The guests, together with the novelists parents, launched the book. The book has been published by Sahayatri Darpan, Nepal.

Speaking on the occasion, poet and critic Mahesh Paudyal lauded novelist Ranjana for delivering a fine piece of creation in spite of innumerable difficulties an emigrant living abroad faces. He underscored the novelist’s capacity to organically weave events with minute details and present them in a linguistically lucid manner. He commended the novelist for dealing with a sensitive issue like gender relation, alongside love, sex, marriage and commitment and a great presence of mind.

Poet Radheshyam Lekali lauded the novelist’s patience for ten long years as a learning author, before coming up with a book-size creation. He expressed his wish to see novelist Ranjana continue writing novels of high order in the days to come.

Chief Guest Dr. Lamsal highlighted the novelist’s five commitments as marks of her authorial commitments. He said, “Her stress on honest reflection,  perseverant writing, realistic reflection of the present, correct guidance to those confused in love, and promises of an honorable return with a better work are what define novelist Ranjana.” He also applauded the linguistic finery and smooth display of events in the novel.

Speaking from the position of the chair, poet and novelist Govinda Kandel Aansu highlighted the commitment of his organization towards quality publication. He mentioned that Darpan has so far published around five dozen novels, of which, he is the editor of many.

Critic Rama Adhikari delivered welcome address, while the novelist’s father expressed best wishes for the success of his daughter’s authorial adventure.

Darpan also felicitated a few people from different parts of the country for their commendable service in the field of health, social work, literature, art and culture.
