Kalashree Awards for 2020-21 Announced

Nepali Kalasahitya Dot Com Pratishthan has announced Kalashree Awards for the year 2020-21. As decided in a meeting of the Executive Committee of the organization under the chairpersonship of its Chair Momila in Lalitpur on Friday,  the prestigious Rashtriya Kalashree Samman (Honor) for this year will be conferred on renowned and legendary singer and composer Raamesh Shrestha. According to official sources, Rashtriya Kalashree Puraskar (Award) for the year shall be conferred on poet, dramatist, director and theater activist Ashesh Malla.  Senior literary journalist and poet Laxmi Uprety will be honored with Badri Rashtriya Kalashree Patrakarita Puraskar dedicated to literary journalists, while poet and journalist Thakur Belbase will receive Sa-Siddhi Rashtriya Kalashree Yuva Puraskar, dedicated to youth writers. Artist Bidhata KC will receive Thir-Chhaya Rashtriya Kalashree Lalitkala Puraksar dedicated to fine artists,  while singer Milan Newar will be decorated with Padmanetra Rashtriya Kalashri Sangeet Puraskar decided to singers and music professionals.  

According to Pratishthan’s chair Momila, the award-giving ceremony will be organized next month in Kathmandu, duly following COVID protocols.

The Pratishthan has  been distributing Kalashree Awards for the past twelve years. The selections are made by the organization’s executive committee, based on recommendations from area experts, well-wishers and confidential respondents.
