Selfishness

Bimarsha Dahal

I fought for the borders
And was named a martyr.

He fought for self-respect
And was called a worthy progeny.

These days, when I am confined to walls
He is consecrated in my mother’s heart.

Right at this moment
The commander is musing of yet another war.

[Bimarsha Dahal, born 2006, is a poet from Okhaldhunga. He is a ninth grader at Birendra Awashiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur.]
