Falsity

Milan Acharya

Someone secretly relayed:
‘You are stunningly beautiful.’
My brain smirked
And the mind set out, carrying with it
A load of illusions
To the market, where beauty could be sold.

The mind stayed hidden at an unknown place;
The beauty remained unsold for years
And secretly got absorbed into the brain

Years after, today
The mind appears immeasurably happy
Someone has perhaps whispered again:
Yet another lie that sounds lucid:
“All ugly things do not remain unsold.”
