Kathmandu, Dec 17
A group of writers and academics based in Nepal, USA and Canada have called for poems in the English language from Nepali poets based anywhere in the world for a collection that will potentially serve as a ‘reference book’ of Nepali English poetry. According to a notice delivered to The Gorkha Times, both established and emerging poets can submit their works, published or fresh. For those submitting published works, it is mandatory to prove that they retain the copyright with them. The notice further says, the poems can be on any subject, as long as they are not “racist, misogynist, homophobic, and otherwise inappropriate.” The poems, at least five in number from each poet, should reach the editors by the midnight of 28 February 2021 via their email address: submission.anthologypoetry@gmail.com
Guidelines issued by the editors:
- Submissions are open to both established and emerging poets.
- We accept both published and unpublished poems.
- When submitting published poems, please include publication details and a proof that you own the copyright.
- Send all poems in a single Word document.
- Submit at least five poems, but not more than ten poems and more than ten pages in total.
- We do not accept multiple submissions.
- We accept simultaneous submissions; please send us publication information and copyright to republish if your work is accepted and published elsewhere. (We want to say congrats!
- Include a 100-word, third person bio of yourself along with your poems (in the same document).
- Contributors will be informed via email if their poems are accepted for publication.
- No revision will be accepted after submission. Cover letter is not necessary.
- Poets will be compensated in the form of a contributor copy of the anthology.
- The Team of Editors’ decision will be final in the selection of poems for the anthology.
