Twin Poems

Sushant Thapa

  1. Truth of Time

The river flows beneath the mountain
It has no pride to climb the height
Of the mountain,
For, it is busy flowing.
Therefore, I urge you not to talk to the sea and ask —
“Where is the river which flowed to you yesterday?”
For, the sea was once a small river.

  1. A Peace Seeker

A traveler once met the Buddha
The Buddha was aged, but was still delighted to meet the traveler.
A small hut and a garden,
Breeze of air amid summer heat.
The traveler was a peace seeker
The Buddha asked the traveler —
“While others are seeking fortune, why do you seek peace?”
The traveler exclaimed, “To meet you!”
