Aama,
rises up early
and spreads warmth
Just as the sun does.
From the east to the west
from morning till evening
When the rays exhaust
after distributing themselves all over—
Aama,
sleeps with the sun
to wake up next morning

Rajendra Shalabh (official name Rajendra Sharma) is a Nepali poet, actor and director. Author of Ujyaloko Sart, a collection of poems, he has won several awards for acting and directing movies and documentaries. He is also a literary activist, and brings together poets of several genres for joint recitals. He aspires to engage and attract more audience towards poetry and therefore keeps experimenting with the medium, fusing it with the others. From poetry video to ‘Sunne Kabita’ (poems recited by the author themselves), from stage dramatization to Youtube videos regarding poetry, he says he would keep on working towards the development of Nepali poetry and literature.
