Deception

Kuma Raj Subedi

Semi-lettered, delving deeper
Gnaws and gnaws the scripture
Comprehends not though peace,
Disoriented in turmoil; proletariat bliss.

Brimming junk; head with a scar
Performance not on a par;
Pride and joy — his celibacy
Veiled in women’s delicacy.

Clothed in attires low
To red head his bow;
Loathsome daily chore
Dogma, low-high, wants to soar.

Commune, he inferred,
Practice yet deterred;
Solitude flung at a distance
Tranquility attains its substance.

Poor he may seem
Rich never deemed,
Unique looking, dubious of sage
Forlorn child — mature in age.

Hymns and prayers
Books in the drawers;
Eve lavished with mate
Rare redemption; sealed gate.

Mesmerizing flags, walls he paints
Breathing short, often faints;
Paradoxical life, opium he reads
In preaching containment seeks.
