Lalasa, a novel by senior poet and novelist Bhuvanhari Sigdel has hit Nepalese newsstands. The work, spread over 288 pages, is a work of fiction that narrativizes the true story of the contingencies and coincidences the author had realistically witnessed in the life of one of his close acquaintances. According to sources, the book will be available in all major outlets in Nepal within a week.
In a press-note, Pushparaj Poudel, the Chief of the publishing house Shikha Books has stated Lalasa is the ninth fiction by Mr. Sigdel, and is the thirty-fifth of his books. Sigdel writes in multiple genres including poetry, memoirs and fictions and is an editor par-excellence. His critically acclaimed deliveries include Aamoi, Sarangi, Ramilal Nani, Jadau Malik, Urmlia, Ram Dai and Dhananjaya. Aamoi, also a fiction, had even been shortlisted for the prestigious Madan Puraskar a couple of years ago.
Sigdel has been writing actively for the past twenty-five years. Equally versed in classical, metrical poetry and prose works, his writing are dotted with historical anecdotes and facts, while his worldview borrows liberally from realism, romanticism and humanism, making his writing a complex bowl of philosophies.
