Plundering Storm

Must read

Sajan Regmi

When born, she was a pigeon
Love was in the air; she was the reason
Was kept away from every mess
She was brought up as a princess.

With every passing season she grew up
Tackling every challenge society threw up
Dedication and hard work finally pays
A bright future awaits with a new phase.

Unfortunately a storm struck her path
Her preserved coyness is all torn apart
All her hope, happiness and dreams were destroyed
She was played and thrown like a broken toy.

A few days of concern and sympathy
A plant chopped before it grew into a tree.
The storm is still set free
Authorities and laws are useless we all agree.

[Sajan Regmi is a Nepali poet based in Kathmandu.]
