To the Shepherd Lad Who Waited

Sushant Thapa

The lad who waited for his buffalo in the evening
Would get to seize his day
Only when his buffalo would fill its hunger
From a distance I saw the lad waiting
On the edge of the drain
He was sitting on the concrete,
Beside the grazing field
The lad in the morning is also used to
Wait for his teacher
Like a porter waiting to lift the load,
The lad wants to lift the load of education
Upon his young shoulders
Waiting on school’s bench this time
And this time it is for his hunger of education that he waits
At school he would always make his ends met
At last he would fully seize the day and
Both the waitings wouldn’t let him stray.
