Nepali Translation of Sheikh Mujib’s ‘The Prison Diaries’ Published

Bangabandhuka Jel Diary, a volume of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s prison diaries have been published in Nepali. Translated from English by Mahesh Paudyal, the work is a part of collaborative efforts between the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu and Nepal Academy. The Nepali version has been published by Nepal Academy, which has also taken charge of distributing the work among Nepali readership. According to The Weekly Bangladesh, the Embassy took this initiative to mark Mujib Borsho, the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation, despite hurdles posed by Covid-19 pandemic. The launching of the book shall be organized as soon as the lock-down arising from the Covid-19 pandemic is eased, sources said.

In a similar venture in August 2018, Rahman’s Unfinished Memoirs had been translated as Adhura Sansmaranharu, translated jointly by Mahesh Paudyal and Arjun Bahadur Thapa. Ganga Prasad Uprety, the Chancellor of Nepal Academy, is the editor of both these works in their Nepali version.
