Satta ra Satya, a collection of ideological essays translated by political analyst and writer Khagendra Sangraula, was made public by Book Hill Publications in Kathmandu on 2 October. The book has 11 essays from eight world-famous thinkers selected by American author Mary Deschene, and translated into Nepali by Sangraula.
The essays included consist of those written by William Morris, Antonio Gramsci, Albert Einstein, Bertolt Brecht, William Hinton, Eduardo Galliano, Howard Jean and Edward W Said.
Talking about the book, Sangraula said, “Today’s world is critical of capitalism, as capitalism has neither benefited mankind or nature, nor has it been able to maintain a balanced relationship between the two. In this regard, this book envisions an alternative to the world system”
“Although not all scholars have openly advocated socialism, the only way to get to the world that is different is through socialism. And that socialism is socialism with a human face,” he added.
Writing the preface to the book, analyst CK Lal says the book would be helpful to move forward with independent thinking and practice as there is no eternal conclusion of philosophies and no idea ever becomes the final one.
