Nepali youths have instituted a social organization named “International Nepali Service Society,” in order to cater to the immediate and long-term needs of the Nepalese people living all over the world. According to a press release, a virtual meeting of a few like-minded youths announced the formation of the organization on Monday. Arjun Ghimire, a Nepali intellectual based in Portugal has been chosen the Society’s founding President, while Arjun Shree, also based in Portugal, has become its first General Secretary. Other key office-bearers are Shyam Subedi (Senior Vice President), Nitu Khatiwada (Vice President – Women), Kishor Subba (Assistant General Secretary), Som Anurag Basnet (Secretary), Supriya Ghimire (Secretary), Prabhakar Bikram Niraula (Treasurer) and Chandra Kumar Phuyal (Assistant Treasurer). Vice Presidents have been nominated to oversee the organization’s activities in different continents. They include Ishwar Kumar Rai (Asia), Dr. Swami Krishna (Europe), Suresh Chandra Bhattarai (South America), Dr. Shyam Krishna Thapa (North America), Shankar Bhattarai (Australia) and Jhalak Budhathoki (Africa). In the inception meeting chaired by Mr. Ghimire, chief guest, poet and critic Mahesh Paudyal announced the names of the newly nominated executive body members, and declared the Society to have come into action with immediate effect.
Founding President Ghimire, who is almost among the pioneers of the concept, through the press note said, the Society has been instituted to promote Nepalese resources, both tangible like agricultural products and intangible, like art, literature, culture and tourism, in the larger global stage, and address the requirements of the Nepalese people as and when needed.
The first formal meeting also instituted an advisory board, having Prof. Dr. Tankanath Sharma, Prof. Dr. Motilal Ghimire, Prof. Dr. Pushpa Damai, Dr. Shyam Sharma, Dr. Narayan Gairhe, Mr. Mahesh Paudyal, Dr. Taramani Rai Dr. Pushpa Ghimire and Tanka Aale Magar as members. The meeting also formed the ‘Science and Technology Committee’, making Dr. Kismat Bhandari its coordinator.
Sources say, the organization will be registered in Europe and its branches shall be extended to other locations as and when needed.
