Distance

Must read

Manju Kachuli

Presences are isolated
Parallel movement of feet on the green carpet
The gestures! Simultaneously, so active
Such an attempt to….

How better were it the early morning
Of those days
No accident would have marked me
No injury and distortion of the arms!

This very moment evening tea in hand
Lips that sip, eyes that gaze
An occasional smile
A few inches of distance
Doors surround us: closed, open, half-open, half-closed
Supper at 10 pm, on dingy lit table cloth
Of two different oblong tables
In separate buildings
Miles distance

The next morning skulls meet
And hands convey in gestures concave and vexed!
The corpus–coliseums’ “Good morning!” voice
Hearts and heave of hearts—call them ‘colleagues’
Then these joined hemispheres set apart
