Poet Bishwokarma Establishes a Literary Foundation

Padam Bishwokarma, a poet and philanthropist of Nepali origin based now in the US, has established a foundation to support literature of the downtrodden. Accordingly to a press release issued by Hari Sharan Pariyar, Secretary-elect of the newly established ‘Padam Bishwokarma Literary Foundation’, the organization has set for itself the objectives of publishing and promoting creations that send messages of support and development of people left behind in the developmental trajectory of the society. The press release further says, the Foundation shall also award writers, organize poetry competition at school level to raise awareness for the elimination of social discrimination, and encourage literature, art, culture and research among scholars belonging to this class of people.

The Foundation, chaired by Bishwokarma himself has senior poet Ranendra Barali, Nepal’s Ambassador to Bahrain Padam Sundas and Secretary in Nepal Government, Dr. Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, as its advisers. Amrit Bishwokarma has been assigned to work at the Foundation’s Treasurer while women right activist Gaura Nepali has been made a member.  

Bishwokarma is author of Shabda Suman, a collection of poems and Tamsuk, an anthology of short story. Former Chairperson of International Nepali Literary Society (INLS), he is presently the vice-president of the Board of Trustees of the same organization. He is presently based in Colorado.
