INLS Announced Poetry Contest Winners

 International Nepali Literary Society (INLS) has announced winners of the worldwide open poetry competition it has organized recently. In a press note released by the Society’s General Secretary Sarwagya Wagle on Wednesday, Radhika Guragain of Biratnagar has been named winner, while Jivan Arohi of Udaypur and Keshav Bhattarai of Jhapa have bagged the second and the third positions respectively. The fourth and fifth positions have been claimed by Shubhachandra Rai from Khotang and Kalpana Tamang, presently based in the US, respectively. 

The winners, in order of positions will be awarded cash prizes of 500, 300, 200, 100 and 100 US dollars respectively, the press note said. The prizes have been sponsored respectively by Tirtharaj Adhikari, Bhimsen Sapkota, Prakash Poudel Maila, Govardhan Pooja and Nijananda Malla. The note further clarified that the finalists have been drawn from among 250 entries received for the competition. The competition had senior poet Matrika Pokharel, Nepal Academy Council Member Dr. Devi Nepal  and noted critic Gyanu Adhikari as members of Jury. 

The prizes will be distributed soon amid a public event, the note said.
