Writing a Biography

What is a biography? A biography is an account of someone’s life. In it, you record the person’s birth, early life, education, achievements and contributions, and finally death. You write all those events, which you think will benefit the readers. 

The account of Pahalman Singh Swaar you just read above, is a biography. Use the following hints and write a biography of Nelson Mandela. 

Nelson Mandela is a hero of modern history—brought freedom to the oppressed Negros of South Africa under the British—born in July 1918 in the village called Umtata in South Africa—a plain and ordinary life— In 1944, joined the African National Congress—travelled from place to place—did not like the discrimination of the blacks—revolted—went underground—in 1960, gathered at Sharpeville for a demonstration— In 1962, the British government arrested Nelson Mandela and put him into the jail—release Mandela in 1990 after twenty-seven years of imprisonment—in the general election of 1994, Mandela’s African National Congress won—Nelson Mandela became the president of South Africa—discrimination ended—died in 2013.
